This is one of the KILIMANJARO route to the east side and close to the boundary to neighbours country Kenya. Also it's moderate gradually ascending not crowded.
It is ascending route with an option of using four or five stations depending on the choice of the climber. Visitors who ascend through this route will descend through Marangu route. Option of four stations includes Simba camp, second cave, third cave and school hut and the second option for five stations is Simba camp, second cave, Kikelelwa, Mawenzi tarn hut and School hut.
The Rongai Route is the only one that approaches the summit from the north and starts near the border of Tanzania and Kenya. For those looking for a more remote route, Rongai is an excellent choice, as traffic is low and it offers a different perspective of the mountain as you conquer it from the north.
This 6 Days Rongai route Kilimanjaro climb is the only route that beginning from the north side that joins with the Marangu Route on the final.
Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), any time we will provide private transfer waiting at the airport to pick you up to the hotel in Arusha
Day 1 Rongai route drive from the hotel to Rongai gate east side of the mountain Kilimanjaro 2235Alms ‘before it was nalemuru gate.
Spending not less than one hour there to arrange gears and weigh the laggage for the porters to carry, 20 kg each due park regulations hiking time 3 hours to 4 to Simba camp 2650 Amsl t’s short day ascending through rain forest for 1:5 hours then moorland zone by enjoying views to Rongai forest and laitok tok a small town at side of Kenya.
Day 2 Hiking from Simba camp 2650 m to second cave camp 3450 Amsl by starting enjoy view to Kenya and Mawenzi peak to the left side
,ascending gradually through moorland zone, lunchtime at camp and later before dinner short walks to high point for acclimatization and come back to camp- this means climb higher sleep low.
Day 3 Hiking from second cave to third cave in moorland zone with a good views to Mawenzi peak and kibo peak ahead/ your destination , short
day by ascend slowly slowly, reach at camp around lunch time and after lunch a bit rest then acclimatization time- climb higher sleep low.
Day 4 hiking from 3cave 3800 Amsl to kibo hut camp base camp 4720 Amsl there you will join with Marangu route so it will be crowded if it’s
busy time , it’s good day by approach the peak with great scenery views to Mawenzi and kibo also lunchtime at kibo hut and early dinner for
preparation of conquer the summit effect from midnight around 12;00 and sun rise time you will be at gilmans point around the rim 5681 Amsl then
approach the peak pole pole/ slowly for 1:5 hours from gilmans to the top Uhuru peak by passing Stella point at rim as well 5751 Amsl this is junction
to the peak from those who took western routes like Machame and lemosho after reach Uhuru peak here as usual no much time to spend just photo and loosing altitude quicker for safety.
Day 5 after back from summit lunch time then hiking to Horombo camp 3720 m same way descending with those who took Marangu route. Hiking
time 3 hours.
Day 6 hiking from Horombo to Marangu gate 1800 Amls 19 km , 6 to 7 hours , back to rain forest to the main gate and sign out crab the
certificates and drive back to the hotel.
Day one drive from hotel to starting point Rongai gate 2235 Amsl hiking for 1. :5 hours through the rain forest and one 1:5 to the moorland zone by
good views to the party of Kenya Laitok tok and view to Mawenzi peak. Overnight at Simba camp 2650 Amsl .
Day two Ascending from Simba camp to second cave camp 3450 m through moorland zone with views to Mawenzi peak and lower side of the
mountain kikelelwa village own by indigenous people knows as Chaga people who living around the base of kilimnjaro. 4 hours hiking.
Day 3 Ascending from second cave to kikelelwa camp site 3750 Amsl 4 hours hiking, through moorland zone by enjoying great scenery,lunch
and dinner at camp so after lunch short hike for acclimatization: climb higher sleep low;
Day 4 Hiking from kikelelwa camp to Mawenzi turn hut camp 5 hours although it’s short day but a bit steep to Mawenzi turn 4315 Amsl after lunch
short walk – climb higher sleep low this camp it’s close to Mawenzi peak and there is turn there/ small lake so it getting more cold during night it’s better prepare against cold there.
Day 5 ascending slowly to kibo hut 9 km , 5 hours through alpine desert passing saddle area in between Mawenzi peak and kibo peak so nice view
while you’re on the way to kibo hut 4720 m.
Day 6 midnight time to Conquer the peak and after summit back to kibo hut and hiking to Horombo hut camp 3720 m by descending.
Day 7 starting from Horombo hut hiking back to Montana forest Mandara and all the way to Marangu gate distance 19 hiking time 6 to 7 hours
ascending to Marangu gate then sign out pick the certificates and drive back to the hotel.
This is same way but it’s alternative one short and quick for those who are fit or experienced altitude .
Day one starting at Rongai gate as usual to Simba camp 2650 Amsl
Day two hiking from Simba to third cave 3800 Amls time hiking 6 to 7 hours straight ahead by approach the Kibo peak.
Day three hiking from third cave camp to Kibo hut camp/ base camp then ready to conquer the summit midnight as usual same way to those took
Marangu route.
Day four after summit coming back to base camp Kibo and short rest then descending to Horombo hut camp 3720 Amls.
Day five descending from Horombo to Marangu gate same way with Marangu hikers through the jungle again to Marangu gate 1800 Amsl and sign
out ready to drive back to the hotel.
